Forest School

Overview

‘Forest School is an inspirational process that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees’.

(Forest School Association)

Most people learn best from first-hand experiences. Using a range of activities both designed by the leader and instigated by the participants themselves, groups of up to 12 people will explore and learn about a woodland environment while developing practical and social skills. Courses consist of 12 three-hour weekly sessions. Specific activities will depend on the ability, experience and interests of the group but might include den building, woodworking, foraging, fires and cooking. Building independence, confidence and social skills are important parts of Forest School and we aim to encourage confident creative and independent individuals who can work effectively both by themselves and in groups.
